The Royal Palace on Dam Square

The Royal Palace of Amsterdam was built in the Dutch Golden Age and originally served as a town hall in the 17th century. His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and Queen Máxima are the current tenants.

While open to the public for most of the year, the palace is closed for royal events so it’s best to check the website for an updated calendar and online tickets. Guided tours of the palace are conducted by qualified art historians or art history students. The tour takes approximately one hour and must be booked at least two weeks in advance.
